With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Bennie Carter of Rocky Mount, Virginia, born in Elkin, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Franklin Carter, Sr. and Martha Alice Hinson Carter; his daughter Vanessa Carter; and his siblings, Ruth Carter Reece (Paul), Howard Carter (Helen), Madeline Palmer (Odell), Norris Carter (Marie), Walter "Jake" Carter, Jr. (Henrietta), Stewart Carter (Dorothy), Juanita Lundy (Arvil) and Helen Carter Landingham (Chet).
He is survived by: his wife Irene Pardue Carter; his son Mike S. Carter (Chris Anne); his grandchildren, Courtney Dagger (Thomas), Blake Carter (Hilary) and Jenni McClure (Danny); his great grandchildren, Colin Dagger, Abigale McClure, Evelyn McClure, Lila McClure and Parker McClure; and his caregiver Sarah. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
