With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Stilwell of Roanoke, Virginia, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on November 16, 2024 at the age of 95. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Richard Stilwell to pay them a last tribute.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Richard may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Howell Alfonzo Stilwell and Daisy Coward Stilwell. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Futral Stilwell of Roanoke, VA; his sister Effie Stilwell Klyver of Chesapeake, VA; and his sons, Richard Howell Stilwell, Jr. (Sharon) of Canal Winchester, OH and Stephen Ashley Stilwell (Susan) of Roanoke. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Sherwood Memorial Park (1250 E Main St, Salem, VA 24153).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Roanoke Valley Community Band.
