In the sacred silence of farewell, Joe is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Joe's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his wife Gretchen Loraine Peebles Thompson; and his siblings, Dorys Wade Thompson and Helen Fern Thompson. He is survived by: his sons, Paul Joseph Thompson, Frank David Thompson (Maribeth) and John Patrick Thompson (Rebecca); his granddaughters, Bethany, Mallory and Conner; his great grandchild Laura Grace; and his sister Dixie June Thompson Reece.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakey's South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Ave, Cave Spring, VA 24018). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Basilica of St. Andrew (631 N Jefferson St, Roanoke, VA 24016).
