It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Gay Hypes Wilburn of Roanoke, Virginia, who passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Aina Guy Hypes and Virginia Cleo Grubb Hypes; her husband Emmett Lacy Wilburn; her siblings, Mildred Jean Hypes, Linda Sue Hypes, Billy Lee Hypes and Bobby Lewis Hypes; her brother-in-law Ray Worrell; her niece Ronna Worrell; and her stepsons, Butch Wilburn and Donnie Wilburn.
She is survived by: her son Guy Wilburn; her grandchildren, Bailey Wilburn and Morgan Wilburn; and her sister Margaret Arlene Worrell.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel (305 Roanoke Blvd, Salem, VA 24153). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
