She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert T. Garst and Billie Penn Garst. She is survived by: her husband Michael Roger Saunders (Mike); her sister Carol Hayes (Jim); her children, Grady, Elise (Brandon), Matthew Raymond Saunders (Christina), Jacob (Madison), Mark Robert Saunders and Marcie Renee Bradshaw (Matt); her nephews, Kit and Jay Hayes; her niece Susannah Worthington; her close friends, Stuart, Wanda Boblett and Gail Howlett Stickley; and her cousins, Bob Ballenger and Penny Walters. She is also survived by 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Oakey's South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Ave, Cave Spring, VA 24018). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
