He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean B. North and Margaret LaVon Ward North. He is survived by: his wife Michelle Hackley North; his children, Erin Cameron Bishop (Jeremiah) of Harrisonburg, VA and Joshua Ward North of Brooklyn, NY; his grandchildren, Conrad Thornton and Beatrix Eleanor Bishop of Harrisonburg; his brother Brad North (Julie) of Sacramento, CA; his brother-in-law Robert Davis of Philadelphia; his nieces and nephews, Robert, John Davis (Rebekah), Israel (Tracy) , Hillary and Tiffany North; and his stepmother Patricia North of Warrenton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the development of a 1-mile walking trail on the historic grounds of Little Fork Church, adjacent to the family's farm.
