He is survived by: his children, Mikayla Nicole Mertz and Mariah Renee Mertz; his uncle William Hitt (Dolores); his cousins, Billy Hitt (Pam), Jessica Howard (Dave), Kaitlyn Hitt and Brittney Hitt; and his close friend Jennifer K. Cassell. He is also survived by father to his children, and his fiancé's children.
