He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton Ellis and Mattie Hutchens Ellis; his wife Nadean; and his sisters, Evelyn Shough, Marie Harger and Katherine Williams.

He is survived by: his sons, Jimmy Ellis (Beth) of Narrows, VA and Jerry Ellis (Mary) of Chesterfield, VA; and his grandchildren, David, Jessica, Sarah, Garrison, Emily, Meaghan, Nathan and Kelly.
