He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert T. Ellett and Minnie Henderson Ellett; and his grandson Matthew Thaddeus Ellett. He is survived by: his wife Juanita Ellett; his children, Kevin Ellett (Anne) and Colleen Farmer (Kyle); his grandson Robert 'Travis Ellett; his stepson Keith Spence (Helen); his stepgrandsons, Michael, David Spence and Christian Farmer (Gus); his great grandchild Dalton Ellett; and his siblings-in-law, Gerlene Conner (Macle) and Alvin Hale.
