He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Newman and Hazel Newman (North Carolina); and his son Dr. Mark A. Newman of Blacksburg, VA. He is survived by: his wife Barbara N. Newman; his daughter Lorri Newman of Salem, VA; his grandchildren, Andrew Newman of Radford, VA and Erin Newman of Columbia, SC; his close friends, Ralph Carroll, Richard Shaver and Nelson Vest; and also Carolyn Newman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Riner Volunteer Rescue Squad for their dedicated service and compassion to the community.
