He is survived by: his mother Eva M. Reynolds; his wife Doris Lorraine Wall; his son Richard Alvin Scales Jr. (Helen Tyndall); his grandchild Shayla Lorraine Scales; and his sisters, Janis Hairston (Ellis), Edna Preston and Phyllis Hilton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
