We are sad to announce that on July 13, 2024, at the age of 93, Polly U. Dunn of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James Montaque Underwood and Effie Jones Underwood; her husband John W. Dunn, Sr.; her stepdaughter Dara Simpson; and her siblings, Hubert Underwood, Buford Underwood and Betty Jane Anderson.

She is survived by: her sons, John Dunn (Janice) and Monte Underwood (Chris); her stepdaughter Dana Mitchell; her sister Vivian U. Thomas; her grandchildren, Lee Cassell and Shannon Hale; and her great grandchildren, Codie Marion (Steve) and Cheyanne Cassell. She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

“I just found out about Polly today. I am so sorry to know she died. I loved the twinkle in her eyes as she told stories of growing up in the hollow. She enjoyed talking about the Bible and we had some wonderful discussions about the future that God holds out where there will be no more tears or sorrow or even death as Revelation 21: 3,4 bears out. I want her sons to know that she will indeed be missed. She was such a kind person and I admired her beautiful white hair and smile. Telene M.”
