He was predeceased by: his parents, Huey Boardwine and Thelma Guinn Boardwine; and his daughter Tonya Gail Boardwine. He is survived by: his daughter Venessa Dale Jones; his siblings, Peggy Fulcher, Dorothy Shelton, Darlene Willard, Mary Sharp, Denton Boardwine and Danny Boardwine; his grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Mabry, Austin Lane Mabry and Zachary Dale Mabry; his great grandchild Aligha Cinra Smith; and his close friend Brian Roop.
