He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harry Patterson and Gwendolyn Owens Patterson; his wife Joan Stegall Patterson; and his parents-in-law, Larry, Carol Rhodes of Eden, Lloyd, Glenda Dunn of South Boston, VA, Charlie, Laura Stegall of Elizabeth City, Randy and Pam Shope of Stoneville. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.
