He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Cannon and Elizabeth Hall Cannon; and his sisters, Lillie Holley, Mildred Price, Fannie Tate and Lucy Trollinger.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Hammock Cannon; his children, Mary Anne O'Bryant (Thomas) of Livingston, Elizabeth Hester (Bill) of Reidsville and John D. Cannon Jr. (JoAnn) of Eden; his grandchildren, Janet O'Bryant, Scott O'Bryant, Kathleen Galarza and Victoria Hale; and his sister Margaret Cannon of Eden. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
