He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Walthall Sumpter of Eden and Charles Sumpter, Jr.; his wife Pamela Corum Sumpter; his stepson James Cox; and his siblings, Steve Sumpter (Marilyn) of Greensboro, Sharon Pace (H. C.) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Susan Richardson (Richie) of Eden and Ginger Booker (Randy) of Burlington.
