She was predeceased by: her parents, James Wythe and Fannie Redd Edwards; her siblings, Moyer Edwards, Robert Edwards, Dillard Edwards, Larkin Edwards, Arthur Edwards, Charity E. Martin and Sarah E. Penn; and her son Steven Jason Payne.
She is survived by: her spouse Gentry R. Payne; her son Ralph Payne (Renee) of Martinsville; her grandchildren, Lange Payne (Melissa) of Bloomington, IL, Chavez Payne (Tiffany) of Deluth, GA, Jason Payne (Christa) of Lawsonville, VA, Michael Houchins (Maggie) of Stuart, VA and Tony Travers of Henrico, VA; her great grandchildren, Jozef, Vincent, Lia, Kali, Kingston and Kinsley; her grandchildren, Brianna and Lyric Houchins; her sisters, Edith Pitzer of Martinsville and Iris Stone Patterson (Andrew) of Ridgeway; and her goddaughter Christa Tarpley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Perry-Spencer Funeral Home (402 Short Ave, Madison, NC 27025). Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Christian View Missionary Baptist Church (360 Arrowhead Cir, Spencer, VA 24165). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at the Spencer-Redd Family Cemetery.
