He was predeceased by: his parents, Geneva Forbes Gaines Davis and Russell Oscar Gaines; his brother James E. Gaines; and his son Adolphus Gaines. He is survived by: his wife Marsha S. Gaines; his siblings, Anthony Gaines (Gerri) and Shirley Mitchell (Leonard); his children, Russell Gaines Jr., Myrtle Henderson (Lenny), Kim Gaines (Stephen), Helen Gaines, Edward Smith (Shane), Jarvis Washington, Rushell Gaines (Christina), Diamond Gibson and Dy'Asia Gibson; and his grandchildren, Christiena, James, Kennesha, Mia, Candice, Dreyahna, Jai'lynn, Doneisha and Latesha.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Chiles Funeral Home (2100 Fairmount Ave, Richmond, VA 23223). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
