In the vast expanse of eternity, Herbert Edward shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Herbert Edward farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Jean Bischoff Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Doris Bradley Nichols; his daughters, Susan Nichols Matthews (Clay) and Barbara Jean Nichols; his grandsons, Joseph Taylor Matthews (Sheridan) of El Granada and Andrew Clay Matthews of Greenville; his great grandchildren, Blake Taylor Matthews of California, Wesley Jean Matthews of California and Ruel William Matthews of California; and his nephews, Lawrence Benjamin Smith and Barton Elliott Smith.
