We are sad to announce that on October 26, 2024, at the age of 89, Doris Jones Puryear of Richmond, Virginia, born in South Boston, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Jones and Bettie Jones; her husband Sam Puryear of South Boston, VA.; her son Richard; and her siblings, James Jones, George Jones, Richard Jones, Lois Murray and Rubye Snyder.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kelly Downing (Rob) of Hillsborough and Beth Ohmann of Myrtle Beach, SC; her daughter-in-law Ronda Puryear of Standardsville, VA.; her grandchildren, Angie Bartles (Brett), Kate Colvin (Stephen), Laura, Sam, Emma Downing and Drew Ohmann (Morgan); and her great grandchildren, Mary Kate Bartles and Ellie Mae Colvin.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home (115 Main St, South Boston, VA 24592). A graveside service was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery (128 Meadow Dr, South Boston, VA 24592).
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
