She was predeceased by: her parents, Maude Shelor Newby and Eric Kenneth Newby of Radford, VA; her husband Ira Jackson "Jack" Mitchell Jr.; and her siblings, Norma Jean Pettigrew, E. K. Newby and Neata Belle Stier.
She is survived by: her children, Ken, Mike (Angie) and Diane; her granddaughters, Amanda Simpson (Marc) and Jenna Johnson (Nick); and her great grandchildren, Emma, Anna and Sloane. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
