Anthony Joseph Gelsomino Obituary
Anthony Joseph Gelsomino, age 48, of Richmond, Va. passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024.
He was a remarkable man whose spirit touched us all. Anthony was a beacon of intelligence and kindness, always eager to lend a helping hand and tackle life's challenges with unwavering independence. His passions for cars, music, and sports were evident in everything he did, and his enthusiasm was infectious.
Anthony was a man of great courage and pride, always putting others before himself. He lived life on his own terms, with a heart full of love and a spirit that knew no fear. His dedication to football saw him play in a semi-professional league in Richmond, Virginia, and despite our shared memories of Buffalo Bills games, his loyalty lay with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His room and wardrobe were a testament to his unwavering fandom.
Like all of us, Anthony faced his own battles, but he confronted them with determination and resilience. Just as things were beginning to look up, with a new job on the horizon that he described as his dream job, fate took a cruel turn. The void left in our lives is immeasurable, and the reality of his absence is difficult to comprehend.
Anthony was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Sophie L. Reiter Bermel, Peter Frank Reiter I, Joseph J. Bermel; paternal grandparents, Anthony and Arlene Gelsomino; and maternal great-grandparents, Salvatore and Sophie DiRosa.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Karen Marie Reiter; aunts, Patricia Reiter West, Susan Barbara Bermel (Greg Arnone); uncle, Peter Frank Reiter II (Patti); cousins, Natalie Blair Saltzberg (Jordan), Peter Reiter III, Stacy Reiter, Hannah Saltzberg; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2023 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23231, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
