He was predeceased by: his parents, William Buster Elswick and Lula Simmons Elswick; his siblings, Joan Elswick Holloway and Danny Elswick; and his daughter-in-law Melinda Faye Schweingrouber Elswick.
He is survived by: his wife Madeline Carol Elswick (Harris); his son James Robert "Robbie" Elswick; his grandchildren, Robyn Nichole Elswick and William Ryan Elswick; and his siblings-in-law, Harold Harris, Danny Harris (Cathy), Janey Woods (Harry), Linda McClanahan (Benny) and Betsy Christian. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
