He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin Smith and Mary Catherine Jenkins Smith; and his siblings, Mary Ann Smith Hutcherson (Bill), William "Billy" Smith, Roger Smith (Betty) and Benjamin "Frank" Smith (Debbie).
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Backe Smith; his siblings, Vivian Frances Smith, Linda Smith Seale (Allen) and Timothy Smith (Vickie); and his sister-in-law Joan Backe Smith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM at the Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service (850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701). A graveside service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Culpeper National Cemetery (501 E Chandler St, Culpeper, VA 22701).
