He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Archie Ralph and Pearl Marie Newberry Shortt; his grandson Mark Hammond; his brother Elmer Sydney Shortt; his son-in-law Michael Tuggle; his wife Lula Bell Stevens Shortt; his daughters, Joan Shortt Tuggle of Raven, Sandra Shortt Dowdy (Larry) of Raven and Garnie Jean Shortt Thomas of Richlands, VA; his grandchildren, Patrick Lee Counts, Carrie Osborne, Joshua Shane Hammond (Mandi Dawn), Aubert Ray Mitchell (Malley), Angela Denise Hamilton and Melissa Cantrell (Glenn); his great grandchildren, Hannah Emilee Taylor (Will), Aysia Jayd Hammond, Aubrum Kayne Hammond, Gavin Counts, Lori Jean Mitchell, Christopher Ryan Bailey, Jacob Hamilton, Jadlyn Anderson, MaKenna Cantrell and MaKayla Cantrell; and his great great grandchild Willard Emerson Taylor, IV. He was also cherished by sons and daughters, along with a host of family and friends.
