He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Edward Short and Ruth Patterson Short; and his wife Cleo Perdue Short. He is survived by: his children, Thomas E. Short III (Jennifer), William R. Short and Elizabeth S. Dunn (Jared); his siblings, Julia Greer, Robin Angle (George) and William "Bill" Short (Martha); and his grandchildren, Thomas Short, Katherine Short, Madeleine Short, Reno Dunn and Alina Dunn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Preddy Funeral Home (59 Edgewood School Ln, Madison, VA 22727). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel (59 Edgewood School Ln, Madison, VA 22727). A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens (5731 Airport Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24012).
