It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Eldridge Spangler of Radford, Virginia, born in Pearisburg, Virginia, who passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Spangler and Argie P. Spangler; and his sisters, Jeanette Helen Spangler Harrell and Evelyn Joyce Spangler. He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn R. Spangler; his children, Carla Kissinger, Tracy Spangler, Brad and Missy Spangler; his stepchildren, David, Lynne Thompson and Laurissa D. Thompson; his grandchildren, Montana, Brandon Bell and Mia R. Spangler; his stepgrandchildren, Casey, Tony Glorioso, Kayla, Zach Meyer and Alex Thompson; his great grandchild Carter Meyer; and his siblings, A. W. (Bonnie Spangler), Bill (Karen Spangler), Darrell (Missy Spangler) and Anna Marie Bostwick.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Dublin United Methodist Church (424 E Main St, Dublin, VA 24084). A memorial service was held on Sunday, March 23rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Children's Ministry or for Missions of the Dublin United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 577, Dublin, VA 24084).
