He was predeceased by: his husband David Brandon Phillips; and his father Charles Ray Shannon, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother June Blake (Steven) of Christiansburg; his siblings, Sara Whitlow (Michael Edwards) of Dublin, VA, Daizy Richardson (Michael), Rose Shannon of Blacksburg, VA, Kimberly Flower (Joshua) of Verona, VA, Tonya Harris (Matt) of Blacksburg, VA, Elisha Jeffery (Richie) of Yadkinville, NC, Charles Shannon, Jr. (Julia 'Honey') of Pulaski, VA and Steven Blake II (Jane Rorrer) of Christiansburg, VA; and his pet Orey. He is also survived by numerous aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
