He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward E. Nichols, Sr. (Ken) and Sarah Nichols; his wife Frances Nichols; and his siblings, Edward Jr. (Meg Nichols), Milton (Ruth Nichols) and Frances Annie (Bart Hendrickson).
He is survived by: his son Donald (Valerie Campbell); his grandson Geoffrey (Shania Ripken); his great grandchild Sophia Ripken; and his sister-in-law Pauline DeHaven of Winchester. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Loudoun County.
