She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia Blanche Smithers and Henry Richard Smithers; her husband Richard Wayne Garwood, Sr.; her brothers, Venice Smithers and Hoyt Smithers; and her nephew Richard Wayne Garwood, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Debi Livingston (James) of Pulaski and Todd Garwood (Lanie) of Pulaski; her sisters, Guida Sutphin of Christiansburg and Judy Smith (Tony) of Pulaski; and her grandchildren, Nick Livingston of Ft. Mill, SC, Brittany Livingston of Evanston, IL and Lauren Cannoy of Max Meadows. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
