He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Andrew Wright and Ola Maude Kress Wright; his wife Juanita Wright of Virginia; and his children, Robin Elizabeth Wright, Loretta Lynn Wright and Michael Anthony Wright.

He is survived by: his sons, Joseph Barry Wright and Kevin Matthew Wright; his grandchildren, Christopher Allen Wright, Joseph Kelly Wright, Amber Nicole Sheppard, Emilee Dawn Wright and Rylee Nicole Wright; his siblings, Roy Randolph Wright, Robert Lee "Bobby" Wright, Jerry Lee Kress, Betty Bentley and Linda Sue Gibson; and his stepsiblings, Thelma "Boots" Lawson, Stella Wright, Sam, Dale and Harry Wright.
