He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward D. Hurd and Ethel H. Hurd; his former wife Lucille Turman Hurd; his wife Ruth R. Hurd; his siblings, Nathaniel "Bill", Edgar "Duke" Hurd and Nancy H.; and his brother-in-law Harry Beckner.
He is survived by: his children, Connie (Bobby Dickerson), Carol (Dale Dalton) and Robert E.; his daughter-in-law Kellie Hurd of Appomattox; his brothers, Roger D. (Diane Hurd) and Grant (Judy Hurd); and his sisters-in-law, Verlon Hurd and Anna Hurd. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
