He was predeceased by: his wife Mamie; his parents, Andrew Whitehead and Bessie Whitehead; and his brothers, Andrew, Maury and Leland Whitehead.
He is survived by: his children, Conway (Gwen) and Trece Holmes (Nolan); his grandchildren, Cole Whitehead (Ashley), Paige Hall (Richard Lee), Austin (Hilary) and Amanda Holmes; his great grandchildren, Leland, Zoey Hall, Layla and Lexi Bond; his siblings, Ann Holmes (Michael), Patsy Stewart (Louis), Robert Whitehead (Rita) and Terry Whitehead (Eunice); and his sister-in-law Irese Whitehead. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chickahominy Indian Tribe or the Alzheimer's Association.
