He was predeceased by: his father James Sydnor Reynolds, II of Red House, Virginia.. He is survived by: his mother Mary Lee Reynolds; his wife Rita C. Reynolds of Prospect; his children, Kristen R. Kiewiet (Erik) of Jonge, Lindsey R. Hix (Will) of Hixburg and James Sydnor Reynolds, IV (Renée) of Colonial Heights, Virginia.; his sister Phyllis R. Colley of Red House; his grandchildren, Louisa, Alexander, Vivienne Kiewiet of Jonge, Anniston, Sawyer Hix and James Sydnor Reynolds (Jay); his siblings-in-law, Celia Dunkley, Susan Campbell and John A. Campbell, Jr.; and his aunt Betty Anne Petty.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations given in his name to be directed to the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad, or the Angels Among Us initiative at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.
