He was predeceased by: his parents, William Meade and Ann Elizabeth Rose Slate; his wife Elsie Dunnavant Slate; and his sisters, Clarice Doyle, Ellen Danby, Kathryn Spain, Elizabeth Maitland and Frances Cain.
He is survived by: his children, William Milton Slate, Jr. (Christine) and Deborah Slate Howard (Gregory); and his granddaughter Karina Grace Howard.
