She was predeceased by: her parents, Cicero Samuels and Delia Taylor Samuels; her husband Grover Cleveland Payton; her daughter Barbara Gail Jarrell; and her siblings, Ellis Samuels, Mamie Lawson, Lillian Dean, Ludy Dowell, Ruth Taylor, Lorraine Gallihugh, Arlene Samuels and Mabel Shifflett.
She is survived by: her daughters, Shirley Kolar and Geraldine Payton Harvey; and her sister Ruby Williams. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
