It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Dean Proffitt Sr. of Powhatan, Virginia, born in Butler, Tennessee, who passed away on May 15, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James G. Proffitt and Faye D. Proffitt; his brothers, J. C. Proffitt and Ken Gregg; and his son-in-law Richard Baughan.
He is survived by: his wife Pansy Jamerson Proffitt; and his children, Debbie Burgess (Bubba), Robert Proffitt, Jr. (Nita), Tricia Shephard (Junior), Kay Baughan, Faye Price (Don) and Sandy Anderson (Bill). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 6 PM - until - 8 PM in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan, VA; face masks and social distancing is preferred.
