He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Short and Stella Hudgins; his brother Frank Short; and his grandson Jonathan Corcoran. He is survived by: his wife Hattie Short; his brother Basel Bales; his children, Ricky Short, Susie Corcoran (Kevin) and Mary Martin (Eddie); his grandchildren, Jennifer Adams (Steven), Michelle Corcoran (Brandon), Jeremiah Short and Joshua Fleischman; and his great grandchildren, Jon Corcoran, Cedric Adams, Thomas Adams and Berkley Adams.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gospel Church (5410 Old Buckingham Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (22482 Prince Edward Hwy, Rice, VA 23966).
