He is survived by: his wife Rachel Sumpter; his children, L. Cyrus and Piper; his parents, Charles Sumpter and Martha Sumpter; and his sister Lisa Sumpter.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mission Fund at Open Door Baptist Church.
