He was predeceased by: his parents, Ned Buchanan and Evelyn Buchanan; his siblings, Welford (Isabel), Donald Buchanan, Delores Evelyn Buchanan and Dorothy Kopnisky (Larry); his stepdaughter Melissa Samuel; and his nephew Butch Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Lucie Smiley Buchanan; his children, David Buchanan, Debbie Braswell (Earl) and Donna Buchanan; his granddaughters, Lena Chapman (Michael) and Nichole Lawrence (Michael); his great grandchildren, Kayla, Tori, Cali and Jane; his great great grandchild Briella; his stepson William Smiley; his son-in-law Troy Samuel; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Caleb Samuel, Bentley and Brooklyn; and his sister-in-law Ruby Buchanan. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Graceland Baptist Church.
