He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Dettmer and Lucille Dettmer. He is survived by: his wife Karen T. Dettmer; his sons, Rev. Michael A. Dettmer (Gabriella) and Rev. James M. Dettmer (Alicia); his sisters, Diana Gibbs (Ben), Celia Keller (Dale), Glenda Hartman (Brian) and Ellen Johnson (Lou); and his grandchildren, Rebecca, Hannah, Noah and Wesley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Community United Methodist Church in Portsmouth.
