With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Bruce Ellis of Portsmouth, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 16, 2025 at the age of 72. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Richard Bruce may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Eugene Ellis and Martha Joanne Chalfant; his wife Sallyanne Pyle; his children, John, Sam, Sara, Grant, Mitchell, Ross and Cameron; and his siblings, Janet Greene and Michael. He was also cherished by grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Elizabeth River Ward (1115 Cherokee Rd, Portsmouth, VA 23701).
