He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Thomas Copeland, Sr. and Elsie Boone Copeland; his daughter Tracey Renee Mason; and his brother Albert Lee Copeland. He is survived by: his wife Angelia Herschell Davis Copeland; his children, Bequitta Michell Johnson (Darrell), NaShonda Tenee Hanks (Andre), Kindra Ronee Mason (Kevin), Jay Antoine Cooper and Ron Darrell Mason (Kim); and his siblings, Audrey C. Green, Raymond V. Copeland and Marvin E. Copeland (Julia). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home (405 Johnson Ave, Suffolk, VA 23434). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Canaan Baptist Church (2064 Nansemond Pkwy, Suffolk, VA 23434). A burial will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery (5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
