It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mavia Gurley Hudgins (Portsmouth, Virginia), born in Newport, Rhode Island, who passed away on August 3, 2019, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Gurley and Margaret Gurley; her husband Charles R. Hudgins, Jr; her daughter Suzanne Hudgins Noles; and her sister Margaret Avis Hundley.
She is survived by: her granddaughters, Anna Wright and Kristen Wright Taylor; her great grandchildren, Travers and Mavis Taylor; her nephew Robert M. Stanton; and her great-niece Allison McDuffie.
