We bid farewell to Helen Marie Nelson of Portsmouth, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 21, 2025 at the age of 89. Helen Marie touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her father Clifford Smith; her husband Earl Lloyd Nelson; her siblings, Garland, Clifford, Thomas Smith and Cynthia Smith Pauler; her son Robert Nelson; and her grandson Matthew Leone.
She is survived by: her mother Helen Smith; her brother William Smith; her children, Julie Leone (Bob), Kathy Noblin (Jeff), Ken Nelson (Barbara) and Bill Nelson (Stacy); her grandchildren, Jesse, Greg, Kimmy, Tommy and Sara; and her daughter-in-law Becky Nelson. She is also survived by her family and friends as a caring and loving mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Foster Funeral Home (1926 High St, Portsmouth, VA 23704). A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church (522 High St, Portsmouth, VA 23704).
