It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ester Virginia Gibson (Portsmouth, Virginia), who passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Ester Virginia may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Ester Virginia touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mable (Charlie Lee) and Ester; and her brothers, Charlie Lee Jr. and Amonese Lee. She is survived by: her son Reginald Jones; her sisters, Eunice Helm, Goldie Scoggins and Anna Jean Roberts; her grandson Reginald Jones Jr.; her daughter Barbara Ervin; and her friend Lillian Vincent. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Metropolitan Funeral Service (5605 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23701). A celebration of life was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Third Baptist Church (461 Godwin St, Portsmouth, VA 23704).
