It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benita Marie James of Port Republic, Virginia, born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, who passed away on May 6, 2023, at the age of 44, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her sister Amanda Vergara; and her father-in-law Gordon Thomas James, I. She is survived by: her parents, Jose Vergara Quezada and Vicky Lynn Shifflett Vergara; her spouse Thomas Christian "Tommy" James; her children, Gordon Thomas "Tommy" James, II and Reagan Lee James; her sisters, Ashly Vergara (Tony Lambert) of Grottoes and Crystal Weaver (Brian) of Grottoes; her mother-in-law Linda Sheets (Daniel) of Staunton; and her siblings-in-law, Christal Morgan (Steve) of Staunton, Audrey Kern (John) of Moneta and Gordon "Lee" James, II (Cheryl) of Aylett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
