It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Gene Garris (Poquoson, Virginia), born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Sherrie Garris; his parents, Rosemary Cox and Lawson Cox; his daughter Jen Garris; and his brother Danny Garris.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Garris (Katie Garris), Nick Roy, Michael Roy (Kat Cotter), Sam Silverman (Omni Silverman), Angie Jones, Susie Garris-Turner (Quinton Pratt) and Megan Abarca (Alex Abarca); his grandchildren, Sydney, Austin, Brittani, Kaleigh, Megan, Josh, Renton, Lyla, Annie, Clara, Cameron, Sophie, Kingston, Harper, Parker, Brody, Makenna and Kaycee; and his brother John Chappell. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Claytor Rollins Funeral Home (836 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson, VA 23662). A reception was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 3:00 PM.
