He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlus Hess and Elizabeth Hunnell Hess; his pet Max; his wife Karen Hale Hess; his brothers, Mack Lynn "Mutt" Hess and Andrew Edward Hess; and his great grandchild Amari Tucker.
He is survived by: his children, Greg Hess (Sheila) and Gail Cooke (Randy); his grandson Austin Tucker; his great grandchild Avery Tucker; and his siblings, Robert Hess and Peggy Kelly (John). He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
