She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Harris and Luna Harris; and her brother Lawerence Harris. She is survived by: her significant other Percy F. Ward; her children, Percy Ward Jr. (Kathy) and Angela Ward Costello; her grandson Nicholas H. W. Costello; her sister Marie Hudson of Louisburg, NC; and her siblings-in-law, Shirley Ward of Poquoson, Geneva Harris of Henderson, NC and Coles Buchannan of Gwynn's Island, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members, friends, and neighbors.
